Killara Estate, Yarra Valley
“Those who say love only sunshine brings happiness have never danced in the rain”
I am so stoked that I got to spend the day with Linda and Julian at Killara Estate Winery. Sometimes brides and grooms get a little worried about the weather on their big day, but not these two. They really took advantage of every moment of their wedding and when it rained, and it did, they just opened up the umbrellas and we kept on taking photos.
The day started in Big Pat’s Creek in Warburton with Linda, her bridesmaids and her family. They had hired a house for the night that was nestled in the forest of Warburton. It was so tranquil and was the perfect setting for Linda (who is the most relaxed bride I’ve ever met) to prepare.
Julian isn’t huge on photos so we decided that I would meet up with him at Killara Estate just before the ceremony was due to begin. When I arrived he was waiting at the altar with his groomsmen and in front of everyone at his wedding greeted me with the loudest “Hey Matt, How Are You Going?”. That’s the kinda guy that Julian is, a great guy who greeted and spoke with every person at his wedding.
The rain threatened, then disappeared, the came back, then disappeared and set in right when we headed out for the portrait session. If you look closely at the photos you can see the droplets falling from the sky. I asked Linda and Julian if they wanted to wait to take the photos but the easy-going pair decided to brave the cold and the wet to take some photos and I am so glad they did!
Thank you to Linda and Julian and Killara Estate for having me there for such a wonderful day.
