Booking and getting started
Absolutely. Every couple is welcome here, no exceptions. I would be honoured to photograph your day.
First, we have a chat, over coffee, a call, or email, whatever suits. I like to know we are a good fit before anything is locked in. When you are ready to go ahead, a $500 deposit holds your date and it is officially yours. The deposit is non-refundable, but it is the only thing due until closer to the day.
I can usually hold a date informally for a few days while you think it over. To lock it in properly it comes down to the deposit, since I only take one wedding per day and I will be turning other dates away.
Yes. Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs are included in every package, and I shoot right across the Yarra Valley and regional Victoria. Further afield is welcome too, just tell me where you are headed and we will sort the details together.
Almost always, yes. The packages are a starting point, not a rulebook. Tell me what your day looks like and I will see what I can do. The only thing I ask is that it stays workable for both of us, since the editing afterwards takes real time.
ON THE DAY
It’s always me, from the first photo to the last. You are never handed off to an assistant or a stranger, and you will have met me well before the day. For most weddings, one photographer who knows your day inside out works beautifully. If you think yours genuinely needs a second shooter, mention it and we will talk it through.
The only time someone else would shoot your day is if I am already booked for your date. Even then, I would never quietly send a stranger. I can arrange a trusted associate photographer instead, and that is always agreed with you upfront, before you book, never a surprise on the day. But if you book me, I am the one behind the camera.
I’d love to. I’ll shout you a coffee before the day so we actually know each other by the time your wedding comes around. It makes the whole thing feel more relaxed, and you are not handing your day to a stranger.
I don’t sell hours, I cover the events of your day. The difference between my packages is simply how much of the day I am there for, whether that is up to the start of your reception or right through to the last dance. We map it out together so nothing important gets missed.
Mostly I document, so the day feels like yours and not a photo shoot. But I will absolutely pose you and give direction when it helps, especially during your portrait session. I keep it quick and relaxed, so you are never left standing around. If you are nervous in front of a camera, don’t worry, I have got you.
We embrace it. Some of my favourite photos have happened under an umbrella. If the weather turns I will adapt, find cover where we need it, and still get you images you love. Melbourne weather does what it likes, and we work with it.
If I am with you through dinner, a vendor meal is appreciated, and most venues offer one at a reduced rate. If you would rather not, I will simply duck out for around 45 minutes to grab something while nothing is happening. We sort this out before the day so there are no surprises.
Your photos are protected from the moment they are taken. I shoot to two memory cards at once, so every image exists in two places straight away, and I carry backup cameras, lenses and cards to every wedding in case anything ever fails. I am also fully insured. And in the rare event of a genuine emergency, an illness or accident that stopped me being there, I have a trusted network of professional photographers who would step in so your day is still covered. It is the kind of thing that almost never happens, but it is good to know it is handled.
AFTER THE DAY
Depending on your package, you will receive roughly 300 to 500, or 500 to 700, edited images, in both colour and black and white. I will get a sneak peek to you soon after the day, and your full gallery lands around 8 to 12 weeks later, in high resolution and without watermarks.
Lightly, and with a natural hand. I correct colour and light and tidy up any distractions, but I will not over-edit you into someone you don’t recognise. The aim is for your photos to look like the day actually felt, just at its best.
