Moments, to be blunt are literally a minute in time. On any given wedding day there are several moments, these moments, shared between close friends and family are once in a lifetime events. What if you could capture these moments and freeze it in time forever? Well that’s where a professional photographer comes in handy.

Wedding day moments shouldn’t be lived once, they should live forever and be remembered forever.

Your wedding day is the first day in history of the rest of your life together, it’s the very day that your marriage breaths life and where beginnings are made. There will be tears, new memories made, happiness and laughter that overwhelms and love that warms your heart. It’s a day of making promises to one another, for forever. You’ll walk down the aisle together with your eyes filled with love; knowing that you’re about to spend the rest of your life with the love of your life. During these moments you’ll want to stop, you’ll want it to slow down but of course this can’t happen.

As a professional wedding photographer it’s our job to freeze these moments in time so that you can share them and relive them. We have been trained to look out for these moments, we know the flow of weddings and have a sense of what is about to happen. We are constantly on the look out for once in a lifetime moments with cameras at the ready. When we see it, it’s natural for us to take the photo and we’ve done it even before you know we are there. That’s our job, that’s my job and that’s what I love about doing it. I love to capture moments that help you and your partner remember your wedding day for the rest of your lives.

An artist uses a brush, a carpenter uses a hammer and a writer uses a pen, but these are just their tools, it’s how the person uses it that produces amazing creations.

Just because they have all the supplies to build your new home, would you trust a part time builder with little experience to build your dream house? You would more than likely look for someone with years of experience, and a lot of happy and satisfied customers who would recommend them.

You want someone who knows how to use their camera, a person who has the experience of taking photos in different light, different conditions, composing different styles and executing it perfectly, time and time again. The camera itself doesn’t do this, the photographer does this and has honed their skill and knowledge through years of hard work and many hours of practise. With this you get consistency, not one or two stunning photos, but a whole albums worth.

Once the photos are taken that’s not it, there is the editing, the fine tuning, the creation of a story, there is more to it than just a camera.

A professional photographer has years of experience capturing weddings, we know the shots to take, we know where to stand and at that right time, we can be left to get on with our job without you having to worry about us getting in the way.

We also anticipate what will happen next, we know the flow of weddings, we will have already found the perfect place for those wedding portraits you will hang on the wall, your wedding day isn’t a photo shoot, it is a dynamic event with only one chance to capture those moments.

Weddings have both posed moments as well as unexpected moments. You may have asked for group photos and posed shots, you want to feel at ease and a professional will make you feel comfortable and natural, not stressed and awkward, these moments are part of your wedding day, so they should be fun and enjoyable. This skill is something that comes from experience and having trust in them and a good relationship with them.

If you feel comfortable then this will show in your photos, it will also mean you have more fun and won’t be worried or stressed, it should be just like taking photos with your friends at the park, just relaxed fun and beautiful natural photos.

What if…? What if the Uncle Bob falls ill, there is an emergency, their computer hard drive fails? The worst case scenario is you have no photos of your big day at all! As a professional photographer we have a plan B, we have a network of contacts to call upon if needed, we have have back ups of back ups. An amateur may not have a plan B and may not be able to afford to back up everything up, where as our reputation is on the line if we don’t deliver.

This is your wedding day and it only happens once! You only have one chance to capture everything that happens, so make sure you trust and have confidence in your photographer.

When your wedding day is over, apart from memories all you have are photos, photos you shall treasure, photos you shall show to friends, family and grand children. Make sure these are positive memories, make sure that after your wedding day you don’t fall asleep wandering what it looked like when you walked down the aisle, when you had your first kiss, your first dance, when you cried and wishing you spent a bit more for a professional photographer.
